Dr. Elsie Miranda is Director of Diversities for the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), where her work focuses on advancing diversity, equity, and belonging within theological education. She joined ATS in 2018 as Director of Accreditation following 22 years at Barry University, where she served as Associate Professor of Practical Theology and Director of Ministerial Formation.
A Cuban American practical theologian, Dr. Miranda’s scholarship and leadership explore holistic theological formation at the intersection of faith and sociocultural and political realities, informed by Catholic Social Teaching. Her current interests center on the renewal of Christian anthropology and its relationship to safeguarding the sacredness of creation and affirming the dignity of all persons. Across her work as an educator, administrator, and theological leader, she brings a deep commitment to formation that responds thoughtfully to the complex realities of individuals, communities, and institutions.
