Brian Clark, PhD, is a Spiritual Director, Instructional Designer, and educator whose work explores the intersections of contemplative spirituality, transformational learning, and instructional design. He serves as Director of Partnerships and Technology at the Spiritual Life Center, where he supports spiritual formation initiatives in partnership with Hartford International University. He also serves as a Consulting Instructional Designer for HIU’s Howard Thurman Center, helping redesign courses for the Black Ministries Program.


Brian has practiced spiritual direction since 2011 and is completing advanced training in Compassion Based Spiritual Direction through the Center for Engaged Compassion. His work is grounded in helping individuals and communities cultivate deeper reflection, wholeness, and practices of care. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College, an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, a Ph.D. in Religion from Boston University, and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
