Fr. Christopher J. Renz, OP, is Professor of Liturgical Studies at the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology. Trained first as a scientist, he brings scientific inquiry into conversation with philosophy and theology, exploring how these disciplines deepen our understanding of the human person, spirituality, and everyday life. His academic interests include liturgical anthropology, Catholic worship and culture, and the role of beauty, mystery, wonder, and the sacred arts in religious experience.
Fr. Christopher’s work also explores the relationship between spirituality, religious practice, and health, with an emphasis on fostering dialogue among scientists, health professionals, philosophers, and theologians. He has served on the national advisory board for the Science for Seminaries Project, helping theological schools creatively integrate science into their curricula. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, an M.A. from the Graduate Theological Union, an M.Div. from the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology, and a B.S. from St. Peter’s College.
