Eric M. Brown, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. His work explores the intersection of trauma, resilience, and faith, with particular attention to adverse childhood experiences, secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and racial trauma among clergy, congregations, and mental health professionals.

Eric’s research brings psychology and theology into conversation, including pioneering empirical work on trauma among Black clergy and religious leaders. He is Co-Principal Investigator of the Lilly Endowment-funded Trauma-Responsive Congregations initiative, working with churches nationwide to strengthen trauma-responsive leadership and practice. He also serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Psychology and Theology and Journal of Employment Counseling and regularly leads workshops for clergy and faith communities on trauma, burnout, and resilience.
